i GiVe uP!!!

Well, I've about decided that real houseplants just aren't worth the time, money and sorrow!!  I mourn their passing way too often and can't seem to keep them alive for the life of me!!  I really don't like fake anything: sugar, butter, knock off designer duds... and I've always heard from decorators that fake plants are tacky but I think I've reached the end of my rope when it comes to plants!  I'm about to trade all of my real ones in for faux!  I think it'd look better than half dead!  Don't you?  Not to mention that I could have bought really nice real looking faux plants for what I've spent replacing the real thing and no maintenance!!  It's decided!  I'm on the hunt for some awesome faux greenery!

ReCoVeRy

Since Abram's surgery on Thursday morning we have all been in recovery mode.  This means lots of rest intermixed with movies, stories, light play and all the ice cream and popsicles we can eat!!  We've had a lot of fun!  Thursday Abram was feeling surprisingly good!  We even had to tell him to calm down and keep him from being too active a couple of times.  Steel came to visit and brought him a "get well soon" present.  Abram wanted him to stay and play so Candi left him for a few hours.  We had Chocolate Chip Pancakes for dinner, per Abram's request, and sausage, Asher's favorite!  It was a good 1st day.

Day #2 of recovery - Aaron went to work since Abram had been doing so good and we stayed home to recuperate.  Abram wanted to have a pet party in the fire house so we gathered up all the build-a-bears and their clothes and accessories and set up camp - pillows, blankets...  We played up there for a while and then decided that we needed some nourishment.  Malt Time!!!  We went and made our delicious Chocolate Malts and grabbed my laptop and headed back up to the camp out.  We drank our malts with our bears and watched movies on Netflix.  It was perfect!  We also read some stories online and, of course, the boys didn't want it to ever end!!  We had a great day!!!

This is the fire house.  It's in Asher's closet.  All their tools and workshop toys are underneath and I've hung a curtain that can be closed.  The boys and all their friends LOVE playing in here!!

Day #3 of recovery - Aaron was home and that was a good thing because this was the worst day so far.  Our poor baby had thrown up twice that day and spent almost the entire day on the couch sleeping!  It had finally caught up to him and he was spent!  He had a low grade fever too.  Later in the afternoon he was feeling much better and requested chicken strips, french fries and rolls.  Aaron cooked this yummy meal for us and Abram ate pretty good that night.  After dinner we watched Toy Story 3 again and Abram and I played games on our laptops.  We were glad that our little patient perked up and felt better by the end of the day.

Day #4 of recovery - Today was actually the first day that Abram didn't throw up first thing in the morning. YaY!  He was feeling much better and even played with Asher a bit.  He decided that today he was feeling up to a little family outing!  This was good because I was about to go stir crazy!  And I think Asher was, too!  We drove to Whitehouse to visit Baby Bliss.  We hadn't seen her since she was born and she is a week and a half old now!  She is such a beautiful baby and so sweet too!  We enjoyed visiting with Uncle Zach & Aunt LoLo, too!  It was nice just to get out even if it was a yucky, rainy day.  We stopped by Cracker Barrel for dinner on the way home.  Abram wanted pancakes again. :)

Today Aaron is at work again and so far we are enjoying being at home but we will see what the day holds...  Oh, and Abram is still feeling good.  As long as we keep him medicated he says he has no pain! :)

Abram's Surgery ~ Bye-Bye Tonsils & Adenoids

This morning Aaron & I took Abram in for his tonsillectomy.  We had to be there at 6 am!  He was VERY nervous!  He cried on and off the whole way there and then lost it when we had to take his clothes off and put on the hospital gown.  I understand his anxiety and hated to see him so worried.  We played his favorite game, "I'm thinking of something...", to take his mind off of things and it really helped!  Honeywana came to check on him before he went in for the surgery.   He was feeling pretty good until they had to wheel him off and he had to leave us.  That was hard for me too!  Then it all happened so fast!!  They called us to let us know that he had settled down and was doing fine.  It wasn't long after that and they called us to let us know that the surgery was over and the doctor would be out to speak to us soon.  We spoke to Dr. Fulmer and he said everything went great and his tonsils were HuGe!  About 15 minutes later we were called back to see our baby.  He was awake but still a little out of it.  I sat and held him and feed him a popsicle until we were able to leave. Honeywana came back over and checked on him again.  Abram did great and said he wasn't in any pain.  We were back home by about 10 am!  God is so good and answered all of our prayers.  Everything went wonderfully!  We are so blessed!

Today Abram weighs 48.7 lbs. and is 48 1/2 in. tall.

Abram's Last Day with Tonsils

This morning we gave Abram a little pre-surgery present.  He got a build-a-bear with a jogging suit and medical bag.  He loved it!!  I call him "Feel Better Bear".   He said his name would be Kelly Cox (his doctor).  I thought that was so cute!  He got to take him to school with him this morning and show all his friends.  They are having a bear slumber party while he's gone so Mrs. Hopper let Abram bring his today!  Tonight we took him to eat at his favorite restaurant, Pizza Inn.  This is his last real meal for a while so we thought it only right to treat him to his fav!  JeJe & Papaw, Jarrette, Amanda & Lawson and Honeywana & Pops came too!  It was fun and Abram was showered with more surgery gifts.  JeJe & Papaw got him a police outfit for his bear and Honeywana & Pops got him a Bible stories book and cross necklace.  He got to the point where all the attention was making him antsy and nervous.  I think we made too big a deal of it and he didn't want to think about it anymore. :(  Poor BaBy, I hate that he has to go through this but it will be good in the end if he is sick less and sleeps & eats better.  Praying for my sweet boy that all goes well and he has a smooth & speedy recovery!!!  We love you So MuCH!!

AbRaM & MoMmY Time

Tonight Abram and I got to sneak in some alone time together since Aaron is at the station and Asher fell asleep early. We got to play Candyland and Guess Who, go through flashcards together, tell stories and sing songs. It was great! I'm really glad we got this time since he'll be going in for surgery Thursday morning. More on that to come...

Snow Day 2011

Today we got a couple of inches of snow!!! It was so much fun! We made a snowman and snowboy with Honeywana & Pops, Abram made a snow angel and we had a blast on the 4-wheeler and sled with Cameron, Christina, Cason & Conleigh! It was awesome! We enjoyed a delicious meal that JeJe & Papaw made and brought over: Roast, potatoes & carrots, corn on the cob, black-eyed peas, gravy and bread! Yum! It was a GrEaT day!! The only draw back... I'm sick, again! Either strep or tonsillitis with fever. Yuck! Oh well, I was still able to enjoy some camera time out with the family. Such great memories!

Coach Ashley

This morning I coached my 1st Upwards basketball game of 3rd & 4th grade girls at FBC. I know how hilarious this is since I've never played a game and know little more than the average spectator! But don't worry my awesome brother, Cameron, has come to my rescue and agreed to coach with me. Thankfully!! It was fun and I think we'll really be blessed by this ministry to these girls.
